Nursing Supervisor – Labor and Delivery (L&D) Full-Time Nights with Office Hours at Texas Health Denton

Work hours: Full-Time Nights (7p-7a) – 2/12-hour shifts in staffing 1/12-hour evening shift for office hours. Must be flexible to attend meetings. Weekend and holiday requirements
L&D Department highlights:
- The Center for Women at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a Texas 10-step facility with the “Best Place to Have a Baby” designation. Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
- The unit has a 12 LDR beds, 2 OR suites, 3 private recovery rooms, 6 Antepartum rooms, 4 private OB/ED beds, and 23 Postpartum/Newborn beds.
- Level III Maternal Designation
- Level III NICU with 16 beds with private rooms
- The unit delivers an average 200 a month
- OB Hospitalist 24/7
- Anesthesiologist dedicated to L&D 24/7
Here’s What You Need
- Associate’s Degree required; BSN preferred
- RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days of hire
- IFM – Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 12 Months required
- NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
- NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
- 2 years of experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) requires
- 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred
What You Will Do
Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Collaborates with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
- Monitors key performance indicators (KPI’s) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Provides safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
