Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and a Magnet® designated hospital.
Our four-story specialty center for women and infants features 12 labor and delivery beds, 2 C-section suites along with 6 antepartum and 24 postpartum beds. Texas Health Denton is the city’s only provider of obstetrical and neonatal intensive care services and is the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County. The ground floor houses a breast imaging center, outpatient physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and an internal medicine residency program.
What You’ll Need
Associate’s Degree in Nursing, required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, BSN is preferred.
Three (3) years in Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care and/or Emergency Department related experience required.
Progressive leadership responsibility preferred.
RN – Registered Nurse license is required upon hire and
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) is required and
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within ninety (90) days required and
PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support is required within ninety (90) days required or.
ENPC – Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course Upon Hire required and
TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course upon Hire required or
ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care Nurse is required upon hire.
In addition to the qualification the following skills are needed for success in the role.
· Previous trauma performance improvement experience.
· Education/at-the-elbow support in the Emergency Department for Performance Improvement initiatives.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines and with a variety of distinct constituents as well as the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across and beyond the organization.
· Strong analytical reasoning skills, including the ability to implement projects, and solve complex situations.
· Must be able to work in challenging situations, involving competing interests, and interdisciplinary groups.
· Clinical and compliance knowledge with Major Trauma Programs.
· Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills.
What You’ll Do
Quality/Performance Improvement:
Collaborates with Leadership, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes. Ascribes to the American College of Surgeon (ACS) philosophy to obtain adequate data to initiate and implement, performance improvement process to meet standard of trauma care.
Shared decision making:
This role provides a bedside resource for care units, to assist in coordinating patient flow and patient care.
Promotes staff development and awareness in cultural awareness & communication skills in caring for patients by fostering interdisciplinary involvement and decision making in process of patient care (for example, daily patient rounds, frequent communication with Trauma Administration staff and trauma service physicians)
Patient and Family Centered Care:
Effectively communicates with patients, families and other healthcare team members by incorporating the 8 caring factors in the Quality Caring Model which include: basic human needs, human respect, encouraging manner, affiliation needs, mutual problem solving, healing environment, attentive reassurance and appreciation of unique meaning.
